As a fat, disabled, trans, and gender nonconforming person in recovery from an eating disorder, I have high standards for those I trust with my body, and David has met them. From our first conversation, where we spent an hour discussing my needs and history, to every session where David adjusts exercises based on my fluctuating symptoms, I’ve felt seen and cared for. David’s training has helped me improve my mind-body connection and listen to my body’s needs, even through a car accident and concussion recovery. “I found David googling for “trauma-aware fitness instructor”. He is a very gentle and caring person with a lovely sense of humor. In addition to trauma, I was looking for someone who could work with me and my existing injuries.
One example of many where this injury-awareness type training has come up was when we were doing hip-related stretches on the floor. When I explained a type of pain that was happening when I set my leg down, David readjusted the stretch to “decrease the lever” we were creating with my body, and the pain no longer occurred.
My body is much stronger and my pain has become very manageable ever since I started working with David. I am excited to continue progressing on this movement journey with him.”

“David is highly responsive to the needs of the client. We always start the session with a body check-in and this guides his plan for the day. David offers flexible programs depending on where I am at--whether it's a low energy or high pain day, to a day where I'm ready to push myself to the next level.
